President Ollivier Corporation | The Ollivier Award Goes... ![]() Many people think that convergence is the future and that only big, well funded government agencies and corporations have the expertise and financial resources to deploy convergent solutions. Ollivier Corporation wants all those people to start thinking otherwise. Our favorite example is Park La Brea, a 2000-unit residential community located in the mid-Wilshire area of Los Angeles. Situated on 20 acres and deploying a wireless mesh network, Park La Brea is deploying a convergent security solution that integrates the software for managing the resident with the visitor management software that controls access to garages and parking rights.
Park La Brea uses the resident list in the one program to maintain near-instant synchronization with the access control list associated with the visitor management software. When a resident's lease expires and the visitor management software automatically terminates parking privileges so that the access control list is always in concert with the population of residents and their parking privileges. This is performed using standard Microsoft SQL Server technology, the database exchange. Who designed and orchestrated this solution? Well, it certainly was not a large government agency. Guillermo Fontaine, the Technology Administrator at Park La Brea, conceived of the idea and discussed it with Ollivier Corporation during a "walk around" on the property. It was immediately apparent to Jim Ollivier and Joel Rakow, of Ollivier Corporation, that Guillermo was on the right track to being a leader in the security community. We were happy to help make Gullermo's vision a reality. Congratulations to Guillermo Fontaine for his leadership in security and being the recipient of the 2006 Ollivier Award. |
